Sunday, June 4th

We spent most of the day at a festival that my husband’s band was playing at. I ate a fabulous vegan veggie wrap. I’m not vegan, as you know, but they specialized in vegetarian food so I embraced it and it was good. There were lots of wonderful artists there and I came prepared to buy but while we were walking through, my genius self stepped off a curb and landed on my butt. Twisted my ankle. After that I just sat and watched music and then hobbled back to my car. I am having a rather clumsy week.

A few days ago, Wednesday, I think, I literally fell on my nose in the duck pen and my legs flopped into the pool. Wet and gross. And I twisted my back. I went to the doctor on Tuesday. My regular doctor is on maternity leave and the one I saw instead was just like, “I’ll give you muscle relaxers and you might want to get a massage.” I have never had a massage. I wouldn’t even know where to look. I mean, there is a fancy spa in my town but I’m not going to a fancy spa. They’ll try to wrap me in seaweed or something.

Monday June 5th

Today I spent some time in the herb garden.

I’ll tell you what. I am only buying on plant at a time from now on.

Three white silkie chickens: Monster, Penelope and Thistle in the herb garden. It’s just too hard to keep them alive with the way the weather is unpredictable. I used to be able to plant something in mid-May and count on it getting plenty of rain until August and then we’d have a dry spell. Now we’re having droughts in spring. Climate change is real.

Monster, my not quite purebred silkie rooster.

I’ve been laying lots of mulch to keep the soil moist. I’m glad I decided not to do annual vegetables this year.

Anyway, my silkie crew helped out. They are Monster/Mallow, Thistle and Penelope

Thursday, July 8th

Today I took the goose crew out with me to check on the trees I planted. I am not sure, but I think all of the evergreens are dead. The serviceber

ry and the granny smith apple tree looks good, as do the hazelnuts but, you know, I really need to just buy one tree at a time from now on. Keeping them alive in a drought when my freaking back hurts is just a pain in the butt. Two games today. Pooped.

Waxing Moon in Cancer

A beautiful day. Today is Father’s Day. My husband grilled hamburgers. This gives him joy. He got presents as well. And we both independently brought home ice cream. Kiddo thought that was hilarious. We worked together yesterday to make the house nice and today to get dinner ready. I like doing domestic things together. I am so grateful for our relationship.
The neighbors had their grandchildren over and they were very interested in the birds. My kiddo took a turn in their pool.

This morning I discovered a hidden nest of about a dozen baby chicks. This is what happens when I delegate egg-gathering duties. They are Flash’s, so they’ll be tiny.

The geese are becoming obnoxious and bullying the other birds. They will be restricted to the fallow gardens and not allowed in the group bird yard for as long as they still have goslings.

There’s a blue tooth headset hanging on my wall. I think it’s possessed. It keeps turning itself on and talking to me in Japanese.

Very tired. Going to rest. What a wonderful weekend.

I am trying to upload pictures via the app, but it won’t let me. I’ll figure it out later. Too tired now.

New Moon in Cancer

I have not yet emerged from my bedroom. It is Saturday. On Saturdays I let my husband do the morning chores. I can here the silkies grumbling impatiently and my husband’s voice chatting cheerfully to Dizzy, our house rooster, as he is undoubtedly guiding him about his duties. Impatient quacks from Stella, our most vocal duck and the high-bitched crow from Flash, our barn rooster who is the size of a pigeon. And also traffic noises. Of course.

I am not feeling terribly energetic today. I have a dull ache behind my eyes that doesn’t feel like a migraine but might be something sinusy triggered by all the weather changes. A bit of tinnitus supports this theory. I can see bright sunshine peeking through my curtains. Yesterday’s sunshine never manifested and low dark clouds hung in the sky all day. Ominous. But it never really rained. Just spit a bit. It may have rained overnight. I sleep too soundly to be wakened by rain now that I’ve got my machine. Though I always wake at 3am for a potty break.

Anyway. I didn’t get much done yesterday again because I passed out cold as soon as I’d picked up my kiddo from camp. I did the daily chores. It’s a really bad day when I can’t do those. My husband says I should never feel guilty for napping because naps are needs. So I won’t. I haven’t been using my machine during naps and I should start because I am thinking that it might make for shorter, more efficient naps.  I meant to journal again last night as a review of the day but I never did because, well, I passed out.

I am ready to go forth and start my day.  The tone of the quacks I hear indicates that my husband let the boys and the girls into the same pen. I must’ve forgotten to tell him that they need to be separated because poor Alice is being over-loved.

Waning, Gemini

Good morning day and welcome! You are rather lovely. It is cool for the season, but then last month was much more hot and dry than we are used to in May. The air is soft and fresh and smells of wild roses.

I woke up this morning feeling well enough. I was slow to wake up and didn’t get all my chores done till quite late in the day. I did not sleep as long as I should have last night. I had a game that ended at 11pm and then I spent some time researching for my upcoming trip until I began drooling on myself. I will be visiting my eldest child at their home out of state soon. I have a dull ache in my ankle. I have twisted the same one three times in the past two weeks and it doesn’t hurt badly but it is letting me know it’s there. (Add fill holes in the yard to the to-do list) My back has also been hurting for some time as I overdid it gardening but it isn’t too bad now. Mostly I am doing okay and I am so happy that I found my Primary Care Doctor Ellen last spring because a year later I am feeling so. much. better!

It did not rain at all the month of May and I was rather dismayed as I received my arbor day trees and really struggled to keep them alive. I am not sure how they are doing now, really but it has rained for the last few days and now it’s pretty muddy. It is cloudy toda

Evening

Migraine snuck on me at noon. Still hadn’t finished my chores because I slept late, so I finished the animal chores and left the rest for now and took one of my pills and laid down for an hour.

I am annoyed by flies. Add fly traps to the to-do list.

y, but there is no rain in the forecast so I am going to attempt to get some laundry done. And do something about that mud.
