Epsom Salt
Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate. It was originally named for a spring in Epsom, Surrey, England where people came to “take the waters” for healing and wellness.
Epsom salt is historically and currently used for soaking sore or tense muscles. It is particularly good for sore feet and muscle cramps and twinges. Such a soak helps one relax after a physically exhausting day and encourages a good night’s sleep.
Taken internally, Epsom salts act as a laxative.- However, just taking a magnesium tablet will have similar effect.
In both cases. the Epsom salts are dissolved in water. The flavor is bitter and unpleasant.
