A shrine is a location dedicated to the worship or remembrance of a specific entity or group of entities. Shrines may honor gods, spirits, ancestors, events or more. It is a place to commune with that which is honored by the shrine, leave offerings, say prayers, and remember them.

Some shrines are housed in dedicated buildings or structures. Many witches keep shrines within their homes to the gods they honor, house spirits, nature spirits and ancestors. These are often smaller, perhaps just a shelf, that contain images or objects representing the being to be honored, a spot for candles and/or incense and a spot for offerings. Many modern witches who have a permanent altar also maintain it as a shrine.
