An evocation is a ritual, prayer, or incantation intended to call forth or gain the attention of a spirit being or force. It is often done at the beginning of a larger ceremony that will involve propitiating a spirit being or utilizing certain energies for magical work. You may evoke an external entity, or evoke an internal energy such as an aspect of your psyche or your personal energy to do work.
